Alleging that tiatrs produced by Francis de Tuem and by Tousif de Navelim are creating law and order problem in the State, the National Hindu Movement (NHM) stated that they are produced for cheap publicity and to make money.
Hence, NHM has demanded to establish a Censor Board for plays and tiatrs in the State.
The NHM members on Sunday staged a demonstration at old bus stand, Ponda and placed their several demands.
Dr Manoj Solanki of NHM highlighted the importance of the demonstration and said tiatrs based on one politician by Francis de Tuem and 'Akantwadi Goeant Naka’ by Tousif de Navelim, labelling Sriram Sene chief Pramod Muthalik as terrorist, has hurt sentiments of the Hindus.
“This is the best example of misuse of freedom of expression by producers of tiatrs and plays,” stated Solanki.
Solanki further said the Konkani play ‘Avois, Khatkhatyalo Chano’ has also created law and order problem. “It is very essential to establish a Censor Board for tiatrs and plays on the lines of Maharashtra,” Solanki said.
Solanki also charged film producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali for allegedly distorting history while making ‘Bhajirao Mastani’ film, claiming that he has inadequate information and study of the royal tradition.
According to Solanki, in this film, the royal woman has been portrayed in the wrong way. “This film should be banned, as it has damaged the ideal family system during Peshwa rule,” Solanki demanded.
The NHM members also raked up the issue of Telangana government's decision to celebrate Christmas along with 195 churches by distributing clothes to 2 lakh Christians and demanded to impose a ban on use of public money by the secular Telangana government for the appeasement of minorities.
Jayesh Thali, Rajashree Gadekar, Satyavijay Naik, Shruti Jazare, Adv Gajanan Naik, Mahesh Parkar and others spoke on the occasion.
