Congress leader Yuri Alemao on Saturday said that party leader Rahul Gandhi has rightly identified the core issues worrying every Goan who loves Goa.
He said the message that Rahul Gandhi has sent during his visit to Goa is that Congress is strongly opposed to making Goa a hub of coal. “Consequently, Rahul Gandhi has understood the damage to environment and livelihood of coastal communities on account of double-tracking of SWR and the anti-Goa plans of MPT”, he said.
He added: “This visit of Rahul Gandhi is at an appropriate time. It will put the Congress campaign on fast-track mode with focussed directions. The Congress workers are filled with excitement and the people are convinced that the Congress will emerge with majority numbers to form the next government”, he said.
The Cuncolim Block Congress committee mobilized around 22 buses to ferry the party workers from the constituency to the Bambolim for the meeting. Former Cuncolim MLA and Minister Joaquim Alemao also accompanied the Congress supporters to the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee stadium.
