MARGAO
Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao on Saturday made a plea to the Congress and the Trinamool Congress to forge an alliance with like-minded parties such as the NCP and others in the ensuing elections to keep the BJP at bay.
He feared a split in the anti-BJP votes if like-minded parties contest without any alliance.
Churchill also told the people that the court has given him a clean chit in the false cases foisted on him in road works executed during his tenure as the PWD Minister. Churchill said he had faith in God and the people throughout his political career, saying he does not care for politicians who had falsely implicated him.
Addressing an election meeting of daughter Valanka near Bhagwati Chawl in Rumdamol village on Saturday evening, Churchill said he has told Mamata Didi that if she is really concerned to stop the BJP in Goa and the country, she should take the initiative to work out an alliance with like-minded parties. Asserting that daughter Valanka will contest the 2022 Assembly election from Navelim, Churchill urged the people to stay united to take the village forward.
In her address, Valanka said the village and the state will progress only if the people are united and maintain harmony.
