'Everytime Mormugao touches 70% voting, BJP has won with thumping majority'

While political parties have expressed happiness over the large turnout of voters in Mormugao Taluka in the Lok Sabha election on Tuesday, BJP leaders of Mormugao have begun claiming that BJP LS Candidate Narendra Sawaikar could win the LS seat with a margin of around 30,000 votes.
When contacted Urban Development Minister Milind Naik said that each time Mormugao taluka touches 70 percent voting, BJP has won with a thumping majority.
"Our Mormugao constituency has always provided a great lead for BJP in South Goa. Today we have touched 72 percent voter turnout which shows how people have come out in large numbers to support the BJP who have done great development works in the country and Goa. All our polling agents have been doing great work and BJP will definitely win. The fact that the taluka has touched 70 percent voting is a good sign for the BJP," said Naik.
When contacted, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho said that the highest voter turnout was in Dabolim Constituency.
"Congress is talking on the basis of their own experience that they cannot win at any cost and hence have attempted to misguid people that BJP is a liar and should not be voted to power. BJP will get a winning margin of a atleast 30,000 votes in South Goa. Even in Salcette, people are educated and will vote wisely because they have seen the development taken up by the BJP. AAP does not matter to us at all except to increase our wining margin. There is no doubt that BJP will win the South Goa seat," said Godinho.
Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida said that the credit for the victory of both BJP LS seats should be given to former CM, late Manohar Parrikar.
"Both the seats will be won by the BJP in Goa. The large turnout says it all and their is no proof required. Credit for the victory should of course be given to the works of former CM, late Manohar Parrikar. People of Goa have come out in large numbers and will vote for the BJP in the memory of Parrikar."
Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha, when contacted said voters in her constituency weren't deterred from exercising their franchise despite the long queues at various polling booths.
"We are happy with the turnout of the voters and voters too seem aware of their voting rights to bring the right person to power. Voters feel that the development has to continue and everywhere I have visited, I have seen huge queues of voters waiting patiently for their turn. This clearly shows that they want to bring the BJP back to power," said Saldanha.
