Stating that cases in the courts of Mamlatdars go on for years, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday instructed the mamlatdars to expedite matters concerning mundkar and tenancy cases so that the common man gets relief in quick time.
The Chief Minister also advised the officials to attend courts and dispose of the matters in a time bound manner.
“The long delay and unending hearing in the courts of mamlatdars defeats the purpose of the act. These works have been assigned to the field level functionaries like mamlatdars for speedy disposal of matters,” Sawant said.
The Chief Minister was addressing officials at a review meeting held with the mamlatdars and deputy collectors of all 12 talukas in the State.
This meeting was also attended by Revenue Secretary Sanjay Kumar, Collector South and North and Additional Collectors of both the districts.
The focus of the review meeting was on disposal of online mutation cases, disposal of mundkar and tenancy cases by mamlatdars and disposal of Unauthorised Regularisation of Construction Act cases by deputy collectors.
It may be recalled, the State government, as part of administrative reforms, had made the system of online mutation in continuation to the online registration of sale deeds in the sub-registrar’s office.
The Chief Minister said the online system was put in place with the objective of making life simpler for the citizens and to cut down the unnecessary delay while updating revenue records.
But it was found that the performance for the last three months by all the mamlatdars has not been encouraging as some applications have been rejected due to simple and minor shortcomings.
While reviewing the cases of Unauthorised Regularisation Construction Act it was found there has been slow progress in the last years.
The Chief Minister has instructed deputy collectors to streamline the process in quick consultation with other stakeholder departments such as PWD and TCP and expedite disposal.
He further instructed both the Collectors to hold weekly review of the cases at taluka level.
