In a major financial fraud case, the Anjuna Police have arrested a former General Manager of a high-end restaurant in Assagao for allegedly misappropriating over `4.37 crore from his employer’s business over a span of more than three years.

The accused, Gulshan Kumar Singh, 32, a resident of Chattarpur, New Delhi, was arrested on May 9 after being traced to the national capital by a team from Anjuna Police Station led by PSI Swapnil Naik.

The arrest stems from a complaint filed by Shivkaran Singh, the owner of Sukoon Hospitality and the restaurant “Sukhaa – The Indian Platter” located in Assagao.

In his complaint, Shivkaran alleged that between August 2021 and February 2025, the accused, while employed as General Manager, dishonestly misappropriated Rs 1.88 crore by manipulating point-of-sale billing data –cancelling, altering, or deleting bills issued at the time of customer payments.

Further, Gulshan Kumar Singh reportedly failed to account for another Rs 2.38 crore that was transferred from the company’s account to his personal account, purportedly for settling vendor and supplier payments.

The total alleged misappropriation amounts to Rs 4.37 crore.

Based on the complaint, Anjuna Police registered a case under Sections 314, 316(4), 318(4) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.

After evading authorities, the accused was successfully tracked and apprehended in New Delhi. He was brought to Goa and formally arrested.

A court remanded the accused to seven days of police custody for further investigation.

The case is being investigated by PSI Swapnil Naik under the overall supervision of PI Anjuna Police Station Suraj Gawas.
