Ex-sarpancha's son, 3 others held in assault case, get bail

Mapusa Police on Tuesday arrested the son of former Anjuna sarpanch and three others in connection with a assault case.

A Mapusa court later released all the four on bail.
Acting on a complaint of Tariq Khan, a Afghanistan national and resident of Duler-Mapusa, police arrested Prasad Chimulkar, son of former Anjuna sarpanch, and three of his friends - Hussain Mulla, Santosh Shinde and Harshan Agriya for allegedly assaulting and threatening the complainant.
The incident occurred at about 12 midnight when the accused, Prasad Chimulkar driving an Audi car picked up a quarrel with the complainant who had parked his two-wheeler by the side of the road, police informed.
When the complainant refused to cow down, the accused called up three of his friends and after their arrival all four ganged up to beat up the complainant with fists
and bottles.
Feroze R, a friend of the complainant, who tried to stop the fight was also hit, police said.
Mapusa Police arrested all the four accused, Prasad Chimulkar, Hussain Mulla, Santosh Shinde and Harshan Agriya under Sections 324 and 504 r/w 34 of the IPC. A Mapusa court later released all four on personal bail bond.
