The Goa Cabinet approved the appointment of OmPrakash Kurtarkar, a retired superintendent of police, and tasked him with the job of drafting a Goa Police Manual for a consolidated remuneration of `1.25 lakh.
Announcing the decision, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that Kurtarkar has been given four months to complete the job as head of the Goa Police Manual Drafting Cell.
The decision was prompted by various memoranda and communication from the Ministry of Home Affairs stressing the importance of the Goa Police needing to have their own police manual for their day-to-day functioning.
Parrikar informed that currently the police are following the procedures as laid down in the Bombay Police Manual.
