PANAJI: With the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the by-polls to the two assembly seats of Shiroda and Mandrem a few months away, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has effected a major shake up in the party apparatus bringing in the politically tried and tested RSS pracharak Satish Dhond as its Organizing Secretary.
Dhond is expected to visit the party headquarters in Panaji on Saturday and meet with party office bearers and MLAs, including ministers. He will however take full-time charge of his assignment only after December 18 after his final task in Maharashtra - a public political event of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kalyan.
Known to be close to ailing Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, has played key roles in the past two decades of the BJP's ascending political graph in Goa.
BJP general secretary Sadanand Shet Tanavde said Dhond will be reporting to the BJP national general secretary for Goa Vijay Puranik.
Dhond currently holds party responsibilities in Maharashtra and has jurisdiction over Thane and Konkan regions. An event of the prime minister in Kalyan will be his last assignment in the neighbouring State before he shifts back to Goa and takes full-time charge of his new assignment here.
