In an unfortunate incident, a man who was on way to drop his two children to school on a two-wheeler was knocked down by a speeding car driven by an Indian tourist, leading to his death.

The two children also suffered injuries but are out of danger.

The deceased John Trinidade D’Souza (53) a resident of Rauta-vaddo, Nagoa, was on the way to drop his children at St Joseph High school, Arpora at around 7.45 am on Friday.

Police informed that the deceased who had slowed down his scooter near a speed breaker near the Holy Trinity Church was dashed by a speeding car from behind dragging the scooter at a distance.

D’Souza succumbed to his injuries on the way to the North Goa District Hospital, Mapusa.

“These tourists who drive the rent-a-cars do not know the topography of the State and just speed up on the roads. If the tourist had known about the speed breaker then he too probably would have slowed down at that stretch,” a police official said.

Police informed that Paushak J Shah, a resident of Vadodara-Gujarat, was on the wheels when the accident happened. Mapusa Police is investigating further.
