An adult female leopard was entrapped at Ontem-Fatorpa in the wee hours of Friday.
The wild cat was later released in the forest areas away from human habitation.
Forest Range Officer Devidas told The Goan that the forest officials had laid a trap at Ontem-Fatorpa after the local residents had suspected the presence of a leopard in the area.
He said the trap was laid around a week ago, adding “today, the locals informed the forest staff that the leopard has been entrapped in the area.”
Meanwhile, the forest officials have not been able to trap the wild cat in neighbouring Balli village, which many believe it to be a leopard or a Black Panther.
