MAPUSA
Acting on directives of a court, the Calangute police has registered a case of murder against six persons in connection with the death of Dr Mulagalapalli Neha (23) of Hyderabad-Telangana in September 2021.
The FIR was registered after the JMFC at Mapusa passed an order on April 8, directing the police to register an FIR on the basis of a complaint from Dr Mulagalapalli Phani Kumar, father of the deceased.
An offence has been registered under Section 302 of IPC against Poosapati Prudhvi, Dandu Sravanthi, Dr K Karthik, Sujay, Sampreeth and Dolly, all natives of Hyderabad.
Dr Neha had died under mysterious circumstances on the morning of September 26, 2021.
Dr Mulagalapalli Phani Kumar had alleged foul play in the death of his daughter and had lodged a complaint on October 28, 2021, at the Calangute police station.
In his complaint, Dr Kumar had stated that his daughter, Dr Neha, had arrived in Goa to celebrate her 23rd birthday along with her cousins Aditya, Kirti and Dr Kartik. They had stayed at a penthouse in Candolim on September 25, 2021.
The complaint stated that they all had dinner at a restaurant in Candolim and later, Dr Neha’s friend Sravanthi and her boyfriend Prudhvi took Neha to a resort in Morjim at around 1.15 am.
At about 5 am, Sravanthi and her boyfriend Prithvi allegedly brought Neha to their accommodation in an unconscious state. Neha was shifted to the Candolim PHC, where she was declared dead on arrival.
Despite his complaint, the Calangute police did not register an offence in the case and the father then took the matter to court.
The JMFC in an order on April directed the Calangute police register an FIR in the case.
