Fatorda BJP terms Vijai’s performance ‘total failure’

Dares the MLA to prove his achievements as promised in his election manifesto

MARGAO
Terming the performance of the local MLA Vijai Sardesai as a “total failure”, the Fatorda BJP block committee on Monday dared the Independent MLA to place before the people of Fatorda his achievements vis-à-vis the promises he had listed in his election manifesto.
The BJP block committee also demanded the resignation of Margao Municipal Chairperson Babita Prabhudesai in view of the complaint filed by city-based lawyer, Adv Rajiv Gomes with the Vigilance Department on the alleged stray dog funding scam.
Addressing the media, BJP Fatorda block president Arun Faldesai pointed out that Sardesai has been a total failure in his performance as the MLA, saying the MLA had failed to fulfill the promises made in his election manifesto.
“Just a glance at Sardesai’s election manifesto would reveal that he could not achieve what he had promised. Has Sardesai fulfilled the promise to develop the Fatorda lake or rehabilitate the land losers? He has failed to construct satellite markets and beautify Monte Hill. The promise to make Fatorda plastic free is still a pipe dream while the assurance to set up a police station in Fatorda is only confined in his manifesto,” he said, while accusing the MLA for diverting the attention of the people when confronted with the accusations over his failure on the performance front.
When the media pointed out that the MLA has taken up major pending road works, including the Arlem-Ravindra bhavan road at a cost of Rs 18 crore, Faldesai said the MLA is taking credit for these road works when these projects have been taken up by the BJP-led government.
When the media reminded the BJP leaders that the MLA has been consistently maintaining that he has got the road works sanctioned via the PWD Minister, Sudin Dhavalikar, Faldesai pointed out that Sudin is also part and parcel of the BJP-led government.
On the Wi Fi towers, Faldesai said the MLA is blaming the BJP for the discontinuance of the Wi Fi facility just to divert attention when the towers were erected without legal sanctity. When the media sought to know whether the BJP is following different yardsticks for different areas vis-à-vis towers as the party government is now bulldozing with Jio towers across the state, he replied saying that the BJP is opposed to any development which is against the health of the people.
Demanding the resignation of MMC Chairperson Babita Prabhudesai, Faldesai said the Chairperson should put in her papers since her husband (Dilip) is the secretary of the South Goa Welfare Trust for Animals, which has come under the scanner of city-based lawyer, Adv Rajiv Gomes.
