Fatorda MLA assures to take up ST community’s demand for reservations

MARGAO
Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai on Saturday said the BJP should think of the Goan tribal community which has been demanding political reservations for the tribal community over the years.

After a delegation of tribal people under the banner of Mission for Political Reservation for Scheduled Tribes of Goa, Sardesai said the BJP, which has fielded a ST woman for the post of President of India, should also think of the Goan tribal community. “We will have to wait and see how much justice the BJP is ready to give to the ST community from Goa,” he said, even as he promised to raise the issue in the ongoing session of the Goa Legislative Assembly seeking justice for the ST community.

Convenor of the movement for political reservations for the ST community, Adv John Fernandes said the delegation has approached the Fatorda MLA with a plea to raise the issue in the House.

ST leader Joseph Vaz also made an appeal to Sardesai as well as other MLAs to support the demand of the ST community for political reservations.
