Delegation of Hindu organizations submitted a representation to the Shree Shantadurga Fatarpekarin temple not to allot stalls for Muslims at the annual zatra festival.

In an interesting development, the general body of Mahajans of the Shree Shantadurga Fatarpekarin temple at Fatorpa on Sunday have resolved not to allot stalls for the Muslims at the forthcoming Zatrotsav, beginning on December 31.

The meeting was chaired by the Managing Committee headed by President Diwakar Desai.

Desai, when contacted, confirmed that the general body has taken the decision not to allow stalls at the forthcoming Zatra of Shree Shantadurga Fatarpekarin at Fatorpa to the Muslim hawkers. Saying that the decision has been taken by the general body, Desai further said the meeting further resolved that the stalls issued to any applicant should not be sublet to the hawkers and vendors hailing from the Muslim community. “This decision has been taken by the general body (Mahajans) and not by the Managing Committee. Hence, the decision will be implemented by the committee at the ensuing Zatra festival”, he said.

The decision taken by the Mahajans came after representatives of Hindu organization representing Gomantak temples and religious Federation had submitted a memorandum to the Mahajans and office bearers of  Shree Shantadurga Fatarpekarin temple.

When the matter came up for discussion at a meeting of the Mahajans of Shree Shantadurga Fatarpekarin Devasthan, it was finally decided not to allow Muslims to set up stalls at the fair.

Meanwhile, sources informed that representatives of Hindu organizations on behalf of the Gomantak temples and religious federation is believed to have demanded that the Shree Shantadurga Kunkallikarien Devasthan Committee should not allow members of other religions to set up stalls at the fair at the zatrotsav this year.
