The communally sensitive Rumdamol came under the scanner of law enforcing agencies after miscreants painted portion of the roads at two places with green paint.

Later in the evening, members of Hindu organisations, shouting slogans against the Bangladesh government for the atrocities against Hindus, burnt the flag of Bangladesh and sought government permission to nab all Bangladeshi nationals illegally staying in the Rumdamol Housing Board and other places in Goa.

Maina Curtorim police said no complaint was received nor any offence was made out in connection of the painting of road near the Maruti temple and inside the Housing Board in green colour.  The portion were later repainted with purple colour.

Meanwhile, members of Hindu organisation led by Rumdamol Panchayat member Vinayak Volvoikar staged a protest in the Housing Board on Sunday evening against the atrocities committed against Hindus in Bangladesh.

Condemning the atrocities, the group later burnt the Bangladesh flag before demanding that the government initiate action to stop the attacks on Hindus and places of worship in the neighbouring country.

Claiming that Bangladeshi nationals are illegally staying in Rumdamol and other areas, Volvoikar said it will not take much for the local youth to identify and apprehend the illegal immigrants if the government gives them the permission. “Let the government gives us the permission and we will nab these illegal Bangladeshi from the Rumdamol housing board”, he added.
