Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said that festivals like Shigmo and Carnival not only promote cultural tourism in Goa but also boost people’s happiness.

Speaking at the grand Shigmo float parade in Margao on Sunday, he urged people to support cultural tourism by keeping Goa clean and beautiful.

“People across Goa, from Pernem to Canacona, have showcased the different forms of Shigmo. This proves that Goans have not forgotten their culture and traditions,” he said, emphasising the need to promote cultural tourism.

He also highlighted the participation of Margao’s women in the parade, calling it a display of Nari Shakti (women’s power).

Earlier, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte flagged off the float parade in the presence of Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar, BJP State President Damu Naik, Margao Municipal Chief Damu Shirodkar, councillors, and others.
