After sealing the postal ballot boxes, some election agents sought to know how other government officials, who did not cast their votes through postal ballot, would cast their votes by 8 am on March 11, as the drop boxes had been sealed. Mormugao Returning Officer Gaurish Shankwalkar replied that they can send them through post.
When the election agents further asked whether the post would deliver the postal ballot papers by 8 am on March 11, Shankwalkar declined to comment.
The sealed drop boxes containing the postal ballots were later sent to the strong room at Margao amid police security, to be taken up for counting on March 11.
