In a petition submitted to the Chief Election Commissioner, GSSTAC secretary Manuel Barbosa pointed out that no reservation of seats for the Scheduled Tribes was done in Goa State Assembly under Article 332/3 of the Indian constitution.
“This provision clearly defines that reservation of seats in the state assemblies must be made on the basis of the percentage of population of the Scheduled Tribes in the particular state. This mandate of the Constitution is supreme, but has not been applied in the state of Goa,” he lamented.
