MARGAO
The differently-abled person from Assolna finally received the three-wheeler from South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha on Sunday after he reported for the programme at the MP’s residence at Curtorim on time.
Even as the beneficiary Cedric Pereira thanked the South Goa MP for making available the scooter under the MPLAD scheme, the South Goa MP slammed the BJP for trying to make capital out on the matter. He dared the BJP government to come out with a special scheme for the differently-abled people by providing LPG cylinders and petrol at subsidised rates if they really have concern for this section of the society.
The beneficiary, hailing from Assolna, had to return home on Wednesday without getting the three-wheeler under Sardinha’s MPLAD scheme after he reported 10 minutes late for the function presided by the South Goa MP. In fact, Sardinha told the beneficiary to collect his three-wheeler from his residence at Curtorim on Sunday since he has reported late for the function.
“I have got what I was assured. No more arguments on the issue,” Cedric told the media. He added: “It was my mistake that I reported late for the function on Wednesday since I had gone for mass. I am happy today that I have got the promised three-wheeler bike,” Cedric said.
Later interacting with the media, the South Goa MP said he has handed over the three-wheeler to Cedric on Sunday as was promised to him on Wednesday.
Taking a dig at his opponents, Sardinha quipped, “Those who speak and write against me have not voted for me, but the common man has voted for me 10 times in his political career. I have never abandoned my people and they too have stood by me in the long journey.”
‘First MP in country to provide vehicles to differently-abled’
MARGAO: Reminding that he is the first MP in the entire country to provide three-wheelers for the differently-abled persons, South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha on Sunday said he has already handed around 40 three-wheelers to the beneficiaries under the MPLAD scheme.
He informed that the remaining 36 applications are being processed and the beneficiaries will get the three-wheeler before the expiry of my term.
“Sardinha is the first MP in the entire country who has till date handed over 40 three-wheelers for the differently-abled beneficiaries till date. The remaining 36 persons will receive the vehicles before the expiry of my term,” he said, adding that the scheme had put a bar on the number of vehicles in a year.
