After years of apathy and indifference, illumination of the Comba section of the Margao ring road will soon become a reality.
Nearly half-a-decade after the ring road was opened for traffic, neither the PWD nor the Electricity department had initiated steps to illuminate the road, literally forcing motorists to travel on the road in pitch dark conditions.
It was only after the media and the civil society consistently raised the issue that the PWD and the Electricity department moved the file for the illumination.
A ride down the ring road has revealed that around 35 electrical poles stand erected on the kilometer-long rind road, beginning from the Comba subway to the Old Market road.
It’s not clear when the government will inaugurate the project, with sources saying the project may be commissioned before the National Games.
