MARGAO
Asserting that the government has no right to do injustice on Tiatr Fraternity which gives maximum revenue to Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has demanded intervention of Art & Culture Minister Govind Gaude to provide relief to tiatrist over the non-availability of Pai Tiatrist Hall in November.
Reacting sharply to the decision of Ravindra Bhavan, Margao not to provide Pai Tiatrist Hall for tiatrs in November on account of upcoming International Film Festival of India, Yuri Alemao charged that BJP government is giving step motherly treatment to Tiatr Fraternity in Goa.
“I urge the Art & Culture Minister Govind Gaude to instruct Ravindra Bhavan, Margao to re-schedule their repair works or compensate the Tiatr Fraternity by giving them financial assistance to compensate their losses due to non-availability of hall, demanded Yuri.
He added: “Tiatrs give maximum revenue to Ravindra Bhavan, Margao and hence they should get priority over anything else. Many people earn their livelihoods from tiatrs. Ravindra Bhavan, Margao is trying to snatch away bread & butter of tiatr artists during the peak season.”
Saying it the complete failure of the Ravindra Bhavan administration to schedule the repair works during November that too in view of IFFI, Yuri wondered whether they were sleeping all these months to undertake the repairs.
Saying that IFFI is already reduced to domestic festival by BJP government, the Opposition leader has warned the government that any attempts to damage the popular art form tiatr will be opposed tooth and nail by Goans.
