Stating that the mandate given to BJP in the ZP polls indicate that people wanted development projects, Ports Minister Michael Lobo on Monday cautioned that some fine tuning would have to be done to win the support of the majority.

“The BJP has won good many seats but in some places the lead has gone down. Although there are many factors for this, we need to sit and analyse the results. We have to take steps to win over the people who have gone away from us,” Lobo said.

An ecstatic Ports Minister said he has lived up to his word and got the candidates elected of the three constituencies allotted to him by the party.

The responsibility of Socorro, Reis Magos and Calangute was given to Lobo and all three candidates of the three constituencies “ Kartik Kudnekar, Rupesh Naik and Dattaprasad Dabholkar “ emerged victorious.

Lobo attributed the success to the workers who have worked hard to ensure the victory of the BJP candidates.

“Credit also goes to our Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and BJP President Sadanand Tanavde, who have been moving around and guiding the karyakartas,” he said.

Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo attributed the success of victory of BJP candidates to the hard work put in by the workers and people’s support.

“It’s a victory for development. People have reposed faith in the BJP and our workers ensured that our candidates won,” Ticlo said.

Tivim MLA Nilkant Halarnkar said although one of his candidates lost, the result shows that majority of the people have accepted the government led by the BJP.

“I accept the defeat of one of my candidates but people’s moral support will always be with me. The result also shows that people are with the BJP,” Harlarnkar said.
