Porvorim police have registered an FIR against Suraj Arondekar of Canca-Bardez on charges of hurting religious sentiments and promoting enmity among groups on the grounds of race and religion.

Porvorim police said around 50-60 disciples of Swami Brahmeshanand accused Arondekar of passing derogatory comments on a WhatsApp group against the spiritual guru, thereby hurting the religious sentiments of followers of Tapobhumi.

This is the second complaint against Arondekar in two days. Two days ago, a group of residents from Socorro and Porvorim had filed a complaint against Arondekar, accusing him of using vulgar language and defaming a caste and some prominent people.

In this connection, Porvorim police had issued notice to Arondekar to remain present at Porvorim police station. Further investigation is in progress.
