FIR filed over illegal laterite extraction in Quepem

The Cuncolim police have registered an FIR against unknown persons for the illegal extraction of laterite stone at Paryemol-Khaddem-Quepem before March 27, 2025.

The case was filed based on a complaint by Jeetendra Veluskar, a geologist with the Directorate of Mines and Geology, Panaji.

According to the complaint, the accused extracted laterite stone without a valid licence or permit from the competent authority.

They also transported the material to an unknown location, amounting to theft of government-owned natural resources for personal profit, and causing loss to the State Government.

The FIR has been filed under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Rules 3, 38, and 73(1) of the Goa, Daman and Diu Minor Mineral Concession Rules, 1985.
