Fire at Karawada factory
MAPUSA: A loss of Rs 5 lakh was suffered in a fire incident at the factory of Geno Pharmaceuticals at Tivim Industrial Estate, Karaswada Mapusa, on Thursday afternoon.
Sources at Mapusa Fire Station informed that a duct of an air conditioning unit in the factory of Geno Pharmaceuticals caught fire which then spread to the AC unit at around 1 pm.
On getting information, a fire brigade rushed to the site and brought the fire under control.
According to sources, some welding work was going on in the factory, which is suspected to have struck the AC duct causing the fire.
Fire officials estimated the losses at Rs 5 lakh in the incident. Further investigation is on.
