Fire causes commotion in city hospital
MAPUSA: A fire to a stabilizer of an air conditioner in a city hospital was put off by the hospital staff but not before it caused panic among some of the staff and patients on Tuesday afternoon.
A stabilizer on the fourth floor of the hospital in Duler-Mapusa caught fire due to an electrical short circuit, an eye witness informed.
Slight commotion ensued as some patients and their relatives rushed downstairs out of fear, the eyewitness added.
Since the area was engulfed in smoke, the Mapusa Fire Station was promptly informed.
A fire brigade rushed to the spot but before its arrival the hospital staff doused the fire with a fire extinguisher.
No one was injured and total damage was estimated at Rs 3,000, a fire station officer informed.
