The All India Mission Seminary (Pilar Seminary) at Pilar organised its first Christmas get-together with members of the Syrian Orthodox (Ribander) and the Rupantaran Church (Vasco) on December 30.
The objective of this gathering was to strengthen ecumenical ties and share the joy of Christmas with members of the other Christian
Churches.
At the outset of the programme, Fr Peter Melo Fernandes, Rector of the Seminary, greeted and welcomed the guests. Later, Pastor Sunil Francis of the Rupantaran Church and Daniel Kurien, member of the Syrian Orthodox church spoke on the occasion. They expressed their joy of coming together as followers of Jesus.
Later, Fr Elvis Fernandes presented the Christmas message followed by presentation of Carols by members of the two churches and also by the Pilar Seminarians. Scholastic Leonray D’Mello proposed the vote of thanks and invited the guests for a fellowship dinner.
There was a healthy and friendly interaction between the Seminary community and the members of the two churches.
The Pilar seminary has planned an ecumenical prayer meet on January 23, 2020 during the week of prayer for Christian Unity.
