Total 143 staffers of Goa Postal Department were tested Covid positive so far and out of these infected people five staff succumbed to the virus.
Dr Sudhir Gopal Jakhere, Sr Superintendent of Post Offices, Goa Division gave this information. Presently, three infected staffers are under home quarantine and others have recovered and joined duties said, Jakhere.
In this pandemic days continuing with its services the postal division has issued 3630 digital life certificates through door-step facilities to senior citizens.
Jakhere said that special drive had been launched by Goa Postal Department for vaccination of its staff and 100 per cent staff have been vaccinated.
The Saksham Payment System (SPS) launched by Postal department has also been continuing in this Covid days and total 7731 transactions amounting Rs 1.67 crore during this period. This system helped people when they were finding it difficult to go to banks.
