The stage is set for the induction of the first lot of political leaders from Goa into the Trinamool Congress on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, former CM Luizinho Faleiro, Lavoo Mamledar, Adv Yatish Naik, Writer N Shivdas, social activist Rajendra Kakodkar, Vijay Pai and around a dozen others landed in Kolkata to meet TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee and to formally join the party.
They were welcomed by West Bengal minister Sujit Bose at the Kolkata airport. Faleiro is scheduled to meet Banerjee at 3 pm on Wednesday.
Earlier, speaking to reporters at Dabolim Airport, Faleiro did not divulge much information and chose to avoid questions posed by the media.
"You must have known the reason for my decision from my news conference on Monday and you will know more details very soon. I am not aware of how many more are joining the TMC”, he said.
“It is a movement and many more could join the movement. I don't know who will head the TMC in Goa and I have not decided as yet.”
“I have just resigned yesterday and I am working out my fight against the BJP. I will let you know as and when I formally join TMC," said Faleiro, before entering the airport.
When contacted, Mamledar said he was already inside the airport and was leaving for Kolkata.
"It is true I am leaving for Kolkata and I will formally join the TMC. There will be a function on Wednesday and all other plans of the party will be decided then.”
“We will be meeting TMC supremo and other aspects like committees and party office bearers are likely to be decided. We are likely to return to Goa on Wednesday evening,” said Mamledar.
