Food factory gutted in blaze at Corlim industrial estate

A food factory at Corlim industrial estate was gutted in a fire which occurred in the wee hours of Tuesday.

According to information, the Old Goa fire station received a call at around 2.44 am that a food factory namely Menezes Kamco Food Private Limited had caught fire.

“We immediately rushed to the site and began the fire extinguishing exercise and were able to bring the fire under control at around 8 am but the operation was called off only at 3 pm,” a fire personnel informed The Goan, while adding that everything was gutted in the fire.

A total of four fire tenders from Old Goa, Kundaim, Ponda and Panaji fire stations were used in the operation.

A short circuit was suspected to be the reason behind the fire. However, the total loss was yet to be ascertained.

Station Fire Officer Ganesh Govekar supervised the entire exercise.
