South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha on Thursday inaugurated the footpath with pavers constructed under his MPLAD scheme at Sao Jose de Areal village.
Costing around Rs 25 lakh, the footpath with pavers project starts from the Bethany Convent to the St Joseph Church.
Inaugurating the project in the presence of Sao Jose de Areal panchayat members and Zilla Panchayat member Michele Rebello on Thursday evening, the MP has appealed to the people to approach him for projects to be undertaken in their respective villages.
He said implementation of works under the MPLAD scheme had stopped during the Covid pandemic after the grants sanctioned for the scheme was stopped by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “I appeal to the people to bring to his notice the projects they would like to be implemented in their respective villages,” he added.
Sardinha assured the local villagers that he would take up work of footpath with pavers as a separate work in the area under the scheme.
