The manager of a footwear store in Porvorim has been booked on charges of misappropriating goods worth Rs 73,475.
Porvorim police said the incident took place sometime between July 24, 2024 and March 11, 2025, when the store manager Prem Sunil Verma (35) of Candolim was entrusted with the responsibility of the showroom’s accounts, sales, stocks and all matters of the showroom.
Verma was accused of dishonestly misappropriating 25 units of accessories, apparels and footwear from the stock amounting to Rs 73,475, thereby committing a breach of trust.
Acting on a complaint, Porvorim Police registered an offence against the accused under sections 316 (4) of BNS, 2023 and further investigation is in progress with PSI Pratik Tulaskar.
