The Goa Customs attached to Dabolim Airport on Saturday nabbed a passenger on charges of illegally carrying foreign currency worth Rs 7.64 lakh.  

According to R Manohar, Commissioner of Customs, the foreign currency was in the wallet and hand baggage of the passenger.  

“While performing their duties, the Air Customs officers of Goa Customs headed by N G Patel, Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Goa, apprehended an international passenger who was travelling to Sharjah by an Air Arabia flight on Saturday and recovered assorted foreign currencies equivalent to Rs 7.64 lakh,” said Manohar.  

“The assorted foreign currencies were concealed inside wallet and hand baggage of the international passenger. The foreign currencies were seized under the Customs Act, 1962.”  

“The Air Customs of Goa Commissionerate has so far seized foreign currencies equivalent to about Rs 75.14 lakh from international passengers at Dabolim International Airport since April 2018,” said Manohar.
