Over a dozen foreigners were on a different mission on Saturday morning, when they were seen picking up garbage and other waste along the Canacona-Agonda road.
The group of foreigners, both men and women, armed with sticks and garbage bags began their mission of cleaning the road from the strewn waste and plastic.
The group, which came in two different jeeps, started at Dumane culvert and by the afternoon, when the team reach at Keri Poly-house, had already filled up several garbage bags.
Sources informed The Goan that many of these foreign nationals involved in the cleanliness drive are engaged in tourism trade, while some other tourists also took up the task of cleaning the road as the sight would send a wrong signal to visitors.
The garbage bags were then deposited with the Agonda Panchayat.
The Canacona-Agonda roadside is filled with all kinds of plastic and other waste, attracting stray animals along the route.
Some people engaged in the tourism trade at Khola, Agonda and Palolem have been accused of dumping their wet and dry waste at night.
