On the occasion of World Environment Day, Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane visited Mankulem island near river Mandovi where the Forest department is on a mission to plant 1,500 mangroves. The minister, who planted some saplings in the muddy areas with the help of forest officials, stated that the Forest department has decided to ensure that all possible steps are taken to preserve the environment.
"The protection of the environment should not come only through the words but also by actual deeds," stated Rane who had taken his booster dose of Covid in the morning.
The team from the Forest department, PCCF Rajiv Kumar Gupta IFS, CCF Keshav Kumar, IFS, CCF Saurabh Kumar IFS, CF Dinesh Kanan IFS, DCF WL and ET (North Goa) Jabestin IFS, DCF North Territorial Jiss Verky IFS, Savio Fernandes from Nisagr Nature Club, environmentalist and social activist Fr Bolmax Pereira and Renuks Simoes were present at the occasion. Frazella Araujo initiated the drive on the occasion of World Environment Day.
Chief Minister tells Goans to 'go green'

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant wished the people of Goa on the occasion of World Environment Day and gave a message to go green and to commit to embracing sustainability and strive towards the conservation of the environment.
“The celebration of World Environment Day provides us with an opportunity to enlighten the requisite responsible conduct by individuals, enterprises and communities in preserving and enhancing the environment. On the occasion of World Environment Day, I would like to encourage awareness regarding actions to be taken for the conservation of the environment. Let’s pledge to go green and commit ourselves to embrace sustainability and conservation of the environment,” said Sawant.
