Former PWD minister and Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao quit the Trinamool Congress Party fueling further rumours of his return to the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

The timing of Churchill’s resignation assumes significance as it has come  before his meeting with NCP leader Praful Patel(Ajit Pawar) faction in Mumbai on Friday.

Confirming his meeting with Praful Patel, Churchill said the duo discussed the prevailing political situation. He, however, said he has not taken any decision  so far to join the NCP (Ajit Pawar) faction.

Churchill along wit daughter Valanka had joined the TMC in the run up to the 2022 Assembly elections. The father-daughter duo,  however, lost the election from the Benailim and Navelim Assembly constituencies respectively.,
