Tiatrists and tiatr lovers look forward to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who holds the Public Works Department and Art and Culture portfolios to expedite the process, right from sanction of funds to complete the repairs of the Pai Tiatrist hall at the Margao Ravindra Bhavan.
For, it’s now almost a fortnight since the management of Ravindra Bhavan had shut the main auditorium as well as the Black Box for the shows and events following the collapse of the false ceiling inside the Pai Tiatrist hall and the Black Box.
During his visit to the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao last week to inaugurate the exhibition of the completion of the 11 years of rule by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minster had told the media that he would call for the file of the Ravindra Bhavan to understand the issues staring at the auditorium and the Black Box.
The Goan understands that though a fortnight has passed since the main auditorium was shut for shows as a matter of abundant caution, the PWD is yet to finalise the estimates to take up the repair and renovation work.
When The Goan called up the Chairman of Ravindra Bhavan, Rajendra Talak to shed light on the status of the work, he said PWD officials have inspected the auditorium and the Black Box and are working on the estimates. “The PWD officials are on the job to prepare the estimates. Once the estimates are prepared, a delegation comprising of Margao MLA Digambar Kamat will call on the Chief Minister to sanction funds for the repair work,” Talak said.
When asked why he along with the Margao MLA has still not called on the Chief Minister and apprised him over the urgency involved in sanctioning of the funds for the repair work, Talak said “we were waiting for the PWD to prepare the estimates. Once the estimates are prepared, we will be in a better position to request the CM to sanction the funds on priority.”
Tiatr lovers pin their hopes on the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to direct the PWD to prepare the estimates on priority and to sanction the funds.
