According to the police, Rony Regan is settled in Canada and he had arrived at Dabolim airport on Monday morning and acting on the lookout notice, Regan was detained and later lodged in the Vasco jail.
The police said Regan was wanted in a fraud case in a bank in Mumbai and had been absconding for the last 20 years.
“As Regan was not traceable, the Mumbai Police had issued a lookout notice and acting on the notice, the Immigration Police detained and handed him over to Dabolim Police,” said the police.
When contacted, Vasco PI Nolasco Raposo said Regan was lodged in the Vasco jail. However, following complaint of uneasiness, Regan was shifted to Chicalim Cottage Hospital for medical attention and later admitted in GMC Hospital in Bambolim.
PI Raposo added that Vasco Police have contacted their Mumbai counterpart and informed them about Regan’s arrest and police is investigating the case.
