PANAJI: The State Election Commission on Friday notified that process for elections to fifteen wards will begin afresh after it cancelled the voting process in those wards which are embroiled in litigation.
Ward No. 1 of Curca Bambolim Telaulim, Ward No 6 of Merces, Ward No 1 of Anjuna Caisua, Ward No 1 of Bastora, Wards Nos 8 and 9 of Penha da França, Ward No 6 and 7 of Betqui Candola, Ward No 5 of Advalpal, Wards Nos. 3, 5 and 7 in Salcete, Ward No 10 in Nuvem and Wards No 5 and 6 in Sancoale will be held on July 1 with counting on July 2.
The returning officers for these wards will remain the same and will continue to hold their posts until the completion of election process.
Meanwhile, the State Election Commission has notified dry days requiring all licenced liquor premises shall be closed ffrom midnight of June 10 till midnight on June 11 in view of polling and counting of votes for the General Elections to 186 village panchayats in Goa.
Premises having a licence for a Bar and Restaurant will be allowed to keep the restaurant open.
