The Monte Music festival over the years has evolved into one of the most promising music events in the state as well as the country. Very few places in the world, would host a fusion music festival, amid a beautiful confluence of architectural splendour, stunning landscape and the sense of cosiness of the magically restored Chapel Of Our Lady Of The Mount, delicately located on a hilltop which overlooks the Mandovi river and the island of Divar.

Before you step into the arena and are wowed by the music, first take a few moments before sundown, to soak in this absolutely gorgeous landscape you find yourself in. Get done with the photos and selfies, before you dedicate your ears and soul to fusion music performed by some of the finest musicians from India and Europe.

The Monte Music festival started on Friday, but the fare on Sunday, the culminating day of the event is enticing too. At the Chapel’s courtyard at 6 pm. Banglanatak.com will perform an Indie Folk Ensemble, followed by Goa String Orchestra with Karl Lutchmayer on piano and Stuti Choral Ensemble conducted by Parvesh Java at 7 pm in the confines of the chapel. The second performance in the Courtyard will be at 8 pm, a guitar concert by Pedro Joia from Portugal.

While the event is free of cost, due to the cosy, intimate size of the hosting arena, access will be granted only on the basis of entry passes which are available at the FundaçãoOriente in Panaji. A ferry shuttle service will pick up and drop visitors from the Gandhi Circle at Old Goa and from the foot of the mount.
