BJP's women cell has on Tuesday asserted that though the fuel prices have seen a rise in the last few days, people should not forget that the BJP-led government had given relief to the people by way of reduced VAT on petroleum products.
The BJP women cell further blamed the skyrocketing prices of petrol and diesel on the international situation wherein prices of fuel have been going up in the last few days.
In fact, one of the women addressing the media pointed out that the government did not receive any bouquets when Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had reduced the VAT on fuel, saying the government has been receiving only brickbats on the fuel prices.
“The BJP governments in Goa and other States had reduced the VAT on fuel to give relief to the common man. This step was not appreciated by those who are not criticizing the government over the hike in fuel prices. Some of the opposition ruled States haven’t yet reduced the VAT on fuel”, a woman told the media.
The BJP women delegation led by Dr Sneha Bhagawat further informed that although the government headed by Pramod Sawant has announced three free cylinders, they said the scheme is yet to be formulated for the benefits to percolate to the beneficiaries.
On the protests by water consumers over the hefty bills, one of the women pointed out that the people should use water with caution and avail the 16,000 litres of free water every month.
Sneha said the time has come for the people to optimize the use of resources including fuel and water.
