The Gawada Kunbi Velip and Dhangar (GAKUVED) Federation has demanded that the decision to grant service extension to Director of Accounts Dilip Humraskar be rolled back, failing which the Federation has warned of severe consequences.
The Federation has demanded that Satyawan Talwadkar, currently holding charge as Joint Director of Accounts, be given the rightful promotion as Director of Accounts.
Addressing reporters in Panaji on Saturday, GAKUVED spokesperson Govind Shirodkar said that the government has been doing injustice to the ST community in relation to filling backlog posts to STs in various departments, and various other issues.
“Now, the government has tried to deny promotion to a ST member Talwadkar by granting extension to Humraskar,” Shirodkar stated.
He claimed that this is for the first time ever that any government has given extension to a Director of Accounts.
“Our community has suffered enough injustice. Now, enough is enough, we are not going to tolerate such injustice any more,” Shirodkar said and warned of agitation against the government, which includes protests outside CM’s residence as well as that of ministers and ruling MLAs.
GAKUVED President Adv Suresh Palkar accused Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who is holding the portfolio of Tribal Welfare, of doing injustice to the ST community.
“We will not tolerate this. The ST community will hit the streets if our demands are not met...We had submitted a memorandum to the CM as well as the PMO urging not to grant extension to Humraskar, but without success. The only option left for us is agitation,” Palkar lamented.
Palkar also outlined other demands of GAKUVED which include filling of 1,100 backlog posts reserved for STs in various departments, filling of backlog posts of Commercial Tax Inspectors in the Commercial Tax Department, and others.
