The Gawda Kunbi Velip and Dhangar Federation (GAKUVED) on Monday knocked on the doors of Water Resources Minister Filipe Neri Rodrigues with a plea to revoke the suspension order of the WRD staff in the actress Poonam Pandey episode at the Chapoli dam, Canacona.
The Minister assured the GAKUVED delegation that he would direct the inquiry officer to cap the probe and submit the report at the earliest to facilitate the government to take a decision in the matter.
Filipe Neri informed that the GAKUVED delegation had called on him for the first time since the six WRD staff at the Chapoli dam were placed under suspected by the senior department officials.
“They have put up a request to lift the suspension of the employees. I have assured them that since the government has ordered an inquiry, the officer will be told to cap the inquiry within the stipulated time frame to facilitate the government to initiate action,” he said.
The Minister pointed out that the delegation or the suspended staff need not fear if they were not involved in the episode.
In the memorandum submitted to the WRD Minister, the delegation has demanded immediate revocation of the illegal suspension order of the WRD staff and initiate necessary action against the engineers concerned responsible for placing the staff under suspension.
The delegation further demanded to provide humane treatment to the security guards of GHRDC, who are being interrogated at the Canacona police station.
The memorandum further demanded that the Chairperson of the SC/ST Commission take cognisance of the entire incident and immediately initiate the necessary inquiry under the Goa Commission for SC/ST Act, 2020.
