In a major gambling raid conducted by the Maina-Curtorim police at Nessai in Sao Jose de Areal, cash amounting to Rs 4.40 lakh was seized and around 20 persons arrested in the operation. The raid was conducted on Sunday noon in a closed premises near the Nessai Gate, Sao Jose de Areal.
The 20 accused persons, hailing from the villages of Areal, Davorlim, Rumdamol, with an accused hailing from Karnataka were caught red-handed while they were involved in online gambling.
Besides cash of Rs 4.40 lakh, the Maina-Curtorim police team led by PI Arun Desai also seized four tabs, one router and a modem from their possession. All 20 accused persons were later arrested and released on bail.
