The Gaonkar group of the Ajoba Devasthan in Keri-Sateri has demanded action against the temple’s managing committee for allegedly damaging the throne from the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.
A complaint was also lodged with the Sattari Joint Mamletdar Sanjivani Satardekar and Valpoi police.
Later speaking to media persons, Ankush Gawas from the Gaonkar group accused the managing committee of acting illegally to perform the Shigmo festival without having proper documentation and attempting to deprive the Gaonkar group from the celebration.
Gawas stated that a law and order problem about 10 years ago had led the government to lock the temple and all rituals at the temple had been stopped since the
last 10 years.
The government later constituted an ad hoc committee for this temple and it was directed to conduct elections to the managing committee.
Election to the managing committee was conducted on January 10, but the Gaonkar group did not take part in this election. They claimed that the annual general body meeting should have been conducted before undertaking rituals at the temple, the Gaonkar group accused the managing committee of failing to follow the temple guidelines and making efforts to celebrate the Shigmo festival.
