Gomantak Bhandari Samaj (GBS) leader Ashok Naik on Friday said the organisation will support a national party that offers maximum seats to members of the Bhandari community at the upcoming assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters, Naik cited the instance of how then chief minister late Manohar Parrikar had offered 12 tickets to Bhandari community members.
“For the development of the Bhandari community, there should be more community members elected as legislators in the State,” said Naik.
Naik, however, refused to identify those constituencies where the community would stake a claim for tickets.
“We will have a special executive committee meeting to work out our strategy for the elections,” said Naik.
He said the Bhandari community members are working in all parties and as an organisation, community members are not objecting to working in any party.
“The organisation will soon come out with names of constituencies which have a sizeable population of the Bhandari community,” Naik added.
