Power Minister Nilesh Cabral on Friday said a high-tech Gas Insulated (GI) power station at Davorlim is complete and would be commissioned shortly.
He informed that power supply in areas like Navelim and Curtorim is likely to improve once the new state-of-the-art GI substation is commissioned.
“The electricity department has executed this work at a cost of Rs 32 crore. The GI station has been formed with the most modern technology. At this power station, human intervention is less and it is based on technology driven concept. The substation will be a benchmark for other stations in the State,” said Cabral.
The power minister said the GI substation, which will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, will have an office in the complex and will have minimum maintenance cost.
Meanwhile, Cabral also informed that the underground cabling has halted as no party accepted the tender due to a price rise.
“However, the government will undertake the tender process of the 11 KVA and 33 KVa lines on priority basis,” he said.
