MARGAO
Condemning Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s statement against the protests in London over track-doubling and coal transportation, the Goa Forward on Saturday warned the government not to give a communal colour to the ongoing agitation by the people.
The Goa Forward also demanded to know from Salcete’s lone Minister Filipe Neri Rodrigues and Cuncolim MLA Clafacio Dias to explain to the people whether they subscribe to the statement made by the Chief Minister over the London protests.
Addressing the media, Goa Forward senior leader Mohandas Lolienkar charged the Chief Minister of trying to give a communal colour to the agitation, by targeting the protests in London to drive home a message that only people of a particular religion are agitating against the projects.
“The CM should know that the ongoing agitation is being supported by the common man from Vasco, irrespective of caste and creed, as they had faced the brunt of coal pollution. This is an issue concerning the health and the very survival of the people.”
He further reminded the Chief Minister that people of Goa have migrated to London for want of jobs back home.
