MARGAO
Goa Forward Party Chief Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday said that it is now for Congress leader Girish Chodankar to move the Supreme Court seeking directions to the Goa Legislative Assembly Ramesh Tawadkar to dispose of the disqualification plea against the eight Congress defectors.
The Goa Forward Chief made his observation after the media drew his attention to Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar’s statement that he is not mandated to dispose of the disqualification against the eight Congress turncoats in a time bound manner.
Pointing out that the Supreme Court had issued directions to dispose of the disqualification petitions filed by the NCP and Shiv Sena vis-Ã -vis the defections in the Maharashtra Assembly, Sardesai said similar directions may come to the Goa Assembly Speaker if the original petition Girish Chodankar moves the Supreme Court.
“If Congress leader Chodankar moves the Supreme Court, a similar direction may be given to the Goa Assembly Speaker to dispose of the disqualification against the Congress turncoats in a time bound manner”, Sardesdai added.
